Summer Camps 2024
Very Beginning sewing Camp- June 17-20, 9:30-12:00pm, June 24-27 1:30-4:00 Pm, 7+
Learn to use a sewing machine in a safe, encouraging environment. We will explore basic skills through a variety of fun useful projects. No experience necessary. This class meets the prerequisites for all other sewing classes. Ages 7 and up. All materials included.
Quilted Pillows and More- June 17-20 1:30-4:00 8+
In this class we will work on one quilted piece. This quilted piece can then be turned into a pillow, foot stool, small quilt or wall hanging. Each student will work on project of their interest. Most materials included. Confident Beginner.
Stuffed Animals- June 24-27 9:30-12:00pm 7+
Can we ever have too many stuffed animal friends? Each student will choose from a stuffed animal pattern within their skill level. Bring your creativity! All Materials included. Beginner- Confident Beginner
Dolls and Doll cloths July 15-18 9:30-12:00pm 7+
Bring your favorite doll, bear or whatever fluffy creature needs a new outfit. We will be making simple clothing based on the size of our doll. We can also make a doll if you don’t have one to bring. All materials included. Beginner-Confident Beginner.
Bags and backpacks July 15-18 1:30-4:00 9+
If you want to add style to your back-to-school wardrobe, come and design your own bag or backpack. There will be a few patterns to choose from to create your ideal bag. Each student will choose a project within their skill level. All materials included. Beginner-Confident beginner.
Fiber Art mixed media- July 29-Aug 1. 1:30-4:00 9+
This week we will take smaller pieces of fabric and turn them into larger sewn works of art. We will be exploring free motion sewing, painting and drawing on fabric and using fabric and thread creatively. This class is also open to a variety of project ideas. Confident beginner
Monster Making -Hand sewing with an introduction to needle felting- July 29-Aug 1, 10-12:00 6+
We will be working entirely by hand in this class creating a creature from our imagination. This class is open to new sewers with little to no sewing experience. We will be working mostly with felt so we may add some needle felted features to our creatures as well.
Welcome to the Studio.
Notions Garden Sewing Studio is on O street near Henderson Center in Eureka CA. Our wonderful little sewing room holds up to six students in each class.
Most all of our classes start at 8 years. For 7year olds that have good focus, ability to follow directions and are ready to start sewing we welcome you to take our beginning level sewing camp.
We provide all sewing machines, supplies, and notions unless otherwise noted.
We welcome you to bring your own sewing machine if you have one. However, it is important to let us know ahead of time as we have limited space to store machines during the week . If your are bringing your own machine please make sure that it is in working order and you have the manual for it. If we have too much trouble with a personal machine during class we will use the classroom machines so time can be focused on our projects. We are happy to set up private lessons for those that want more instruction on their personal machine.

Registration Policy:
We require payment for class at time of registration. If you would prefer to pay with cash or check we will hold your spot for up to one week while you get your payment and registration paperwork to us. Please contact us to let us know what class you are interested in registering for so we can hold the spot. We may not be able to hold the spot if someone registers for class during the period of our communication and the class fills up, so please understand there are no guarantees for registration off line. If a class is full please contact us by text or email to get on our waiting list. We will sometimes offer more seats if I can schedule an assistant teacher..
Cancellation Policy:
We understand that things change, however it is important to us to keep our classes full.
We will fully refund you minus a 10% processing fee for cancelation up to three weeks prior to class start date.
If three weeks has passed and you wish to cancel we will only refund you (minus a 10% processing fee) if your spot can be filled.
If you do not show up for class there is no refund or class credit.
We do not offer any compensation for missed summer classes.
We make every effort to fill our classes. If in the rare event that we don’t have at least 2 students signed up we will contact you to discuss options.
Behavior
It is our goal to provide casual, enjoyable classes. It is important that your child is on her/his best behavior and does not compromise classroom safety or interfere with the teaching process. We want every student to have the opportunity to have an enjoyable learning experience. We will not be able to accommodate children who cannot behave themselves in a safe and appropriate manner.
Safety Disclaimer
By signing up for Notions Classes you understand that we are doing everything in our ability to ensure safety in the studio at all times. Registration is not complete until a parent/guardian has signed the safety disclaimer on the registration form. Any student unable or unwilling to adhere to safety practices will not be able to attend our classes. It is important that we maintain a safe and constructive learning environment for everyone.
